Rentals & Lets

The rental market in Madeira is another area in which the island has progressed in the last few years.

The Capital in particular, has flourished with a growth of new hotels and private accommodation.

Whether you are looking for a self catering holiday or a small bed and breakfast to satisfy your holiday needs, there is plenty of choice and the island is proud in that it consistently achieves a vast array of high quality and affordable accommodations in Europe.

Rural tourism is on the rise with many people opting out of the usual holiday packages and venturing to sleepy, tranquil and scenic areas tucked away around the island.

Many Quintas and old properties have been converted and restored into charming and ambient retreats ideal for that relaxing vacation or for those who participate in the more energetic activities such as Levada walking, paragliding, surfing or sight-seeing.

There are many rental properties to choose from for the longer let.

There has been a substantial growth in the long and short term letting market and now most rental agencies speak English and have established themselves in this area.

Long and short term rental contracts have similar rules to those in the UK and are usually presented in Portuguese as a legal requirement.

There are many English speaking Lawyers that can advise and oversee contracts and financial issues relating to a rental agreement or property purchase.

A marked increase in the rental market has partially been due to the interest in foreigners looking for a second or retirement home in the sun, renting has become an invaluable way of trying an area out before buying or whilst looking for that perfect home albeit in a tranquil and idyllic setting.

Madeira is enjoying a substantial growth in this area and quality has improved unequivocally over the last few years.

With the new and improved infrastructure and future improvements constantly being added, travelling around the island and reaching the more remote areas of the island is easier and quicker to reach than ever before and thus making the countryside a more accessible and popular areas to live.
